I was in the grocery store last night
When a friend and business acquaintance
Of my brothers approached me.

She expressed concern over the dissolution of my bros partnership.

Went so far as to ask me
Point blank.
Are they gonna be alright?

She knows
My dad shot himself.
Maybe she was one of the hundreds that came to pay respects.
I don't recall.

There were so many people,
The funeral director was embarrassed
That he hadn't allowed room for such a crowd.

I knew what she meant though.
I understood that
She knew
That my life is foreshadowed
Always
By the genetic factor
That suicide may have.
