Ultimately
this spot
saved my life though

I sat here
many times
and
contemplated just falling in
while
the water was high

I would let
the current
push my legs
downstream
while thinking
of what would happen
if the river
just took me

Would
my head bump
underwater
on a glacial boulder
before the river
rushed through
my nose and mouth
and
choked me
or
the other
way around

Pushing
my legs back
upstream
thoughts
would go
inverse

Down the river

Up the river

Nature doesn't
always win

Nature often heals
