a perception

I've been profiled
all my life
racially profiled
that is

I will admit
it has worked
to my favor
but
all the same
it has worked
against
me as well

Including those
in authority
assume
that
I have
an expectation
that goes
with my genetic
make-up

Remember
as I do
daily

I'm just two eyes
and a brain
looking out

I don't see
what you do
it's all
grey matter
to me
