Chance meeting

After a couple years away from my hometown, spent in the armpit of the state (Gardner) getting an Associates Degree in Studio Arts I returned to the Pioneer Valley.
I didn't return to Chesterfield but settled instead in Noho where I've lived off and on ever since.
Small town girl lives a strange and unusual life in front of almost everyone that's known her all her life.
Part of the reason why I don't go completely anonymous on the Web. My life has nearly been lived under a microscope.
Somehow it came to be that Euro man and I crossed paths again. It was about thirty years ago.
Though now, he was separated from his wife. A request for a date ensued and I hesitantly agreed.
Intrigued but fearful I went.
It was a dinner date. I was probably about 18 at the time. I figured him for about 40. Just being in the company of this worldly, older man made me nervous. All through dinner I worried about what would commence after. I was experienced but not worldly. I don't remember the food or where we went. All I remember is worrying how this date would end.
To this day all I can recall is my fear. Then, relief, scurrying up my driveway on South St in the early evening dappled light. It was a nice time of year.
Tiny recollections.
Funnily enough, he didn't recall our date when I approached him about this time last year in our local supermarket.
He was awed that I recognized him.
I just wanted to know what had occured in his life all these years.
Neither of us expected what has come to pass in the last twelve months.

Welcome to my world. Always thought my life would be shelved as fiction. There's no such thing as dull normal over here.
Well, there is but that's when I go into Rip van Winkle mode to catch up.
Hmmmmm.
That's pretty cool. That's a great chance meeting. Fate?
