Bought on a road trip with my dad

As it turned out
a few weeks later
he was dead

Cruelly these
pretty little blooms
appeared
as sad reminders for her
come spring

Seven years ago
she gave the bulbs
to me

Now she is gone
but the
daffodils still bloom

Sad as it may seem
to some
I await
their rebirth
every spring
