Paris

Paris, originally uploaded by Josie Soho.

My sales suitcases say weekend in Paris on them. When this gentleman came by earlier he told me he loved my boxes and asked where I got them. He went away and came back- this time telling me I looked as if I were ready to go to Paris. I told him I was trying to make enough money to get there.

While processing his pic this morning I noticed his pin had writing. I enlarged it to see- it said...Paris. lol

From Where I Sit

Art Quote of the Day
A good photograph is knowing where to stand.
Ansel Adams

Or sit as the case may be.

Actually I know exactly what AA meant. My new mantra while shooting is- get closer.

Woman 2

This woman's been around town for some time. She used to be very put together and fit looking. Her fitness and presence used to be almost fierce. I don't know much about her beyond what's rumored. I 've heard she was once a professor at one of our local colleges.

Over the last couple of years it's become clearly obvious that's she's having serious physical difficulties. My sister and I wonder to each other where her family is and what's wrong. So often we see people just at the bottom. Usually we don't see the decline that's brought them there. Seeing her struggle around town manuvering with such difficulty, in clothes so unseasonably warm for the weather I wonder what can be done to help- if anything.

Little Men

A touch of Saturday afternoon social documentary.

These children probably come from Springfield. Noho is a thriving community. Open and accepting with a lot of social conscience. The weekend brings people to town trying to hawk newspapers and candy for various causes, mostly their own I think. The littlest guy in the group brings to mind memeories of my exhusband. He emigrated to this country from Jamaica as an eight year old boy. Like these little men, he was one too. Forced to grow up too soon.

Okay, I got my vendors' license yesterday. Lucky # 13. Woot! This may sound stupid. Actually when I told my 17 year old she said , "Great my mom's a bum now." So, yeah.
Anyway. This vending art on the street is new to our town and I'm excited about the prospect of participating. It gives me a reason to be out on the street- and shooting the bums is part of what I wanna do. So there ya go.
